I really look forward to getting out when it snows. I think it’s fair to say I like winter more than I like summer. This winter started off really good in November with some fast deep accumulation that eventually was washed away by the rain that followed it. Little to no snow since then until now. Here we are in March and I’m almost euphoric with all the snow. Several times in the past week I have worn my snow parka and pants all day at work, knowing that I’d have to go out in the white stuff (and sometimes making up reasons to get out).
So just a little while ago, I went out to check on the boat. I have not wintered it because I’m still getting out on the water when time and weather permit. Well as you might have gathered the snow has filled and covered the boat. So much now that I’m going to have to clean it out and place it in the garage to thaw out. I should of covered it when it started to snow, but being busy at work and trying to get out and play in between storms (and maybe a touch of laziness) I didn’t.
The storm has continued, with the winds picking up and the snow starting to fall again. About half the flights over the past week have been canceled and the stranded folks are getting restless. I can’t blame them, they have places to go and people to see. Were doing our best to accommodate everyone.
I have to admit though, once the work day is over and everyone is taken care of, I’m out – back to the snow and the mountains.
Eventually though I’m going to have to take the time to get the boat cleaned up and covered, I just don’t see it happening in the next few days if the snow keeps falling. Like I said before, it’s not often we get snow like this and when we do it usually doesn’t stay very long. You could say I feel obligated to get outside and play.

Looks like I got out just in time. I was wondering when this kind of weather would hit, it was really really mild pretty much the entire time we were there.
Just wanted to say I love the web cam! Been stuck in ANC for 3 days now and watch it all the time…what else is there to do?
Hey Mel, snow snow and more snow. Yeah the webcam is real popular whether it’s people coming home, just to visit. and a lot of people are just curious. I’m thinking about putting up another one facing north towards the hotel. Hope you make it back soon.
Casey! You did leave just in time. Although the snow is fantastic! I’ve had better luck learning to snowboard out here in the powder than on the groomed slopes of Hoodoo! Hopefully you will be back in October with the film crew, it will be good to jam again. Have fun shooting Black Gold – Texas is too hot for me.
