My New Job
September 24, 2009
It is with great pleasure and immense enthusiasm that I announce I have accepted another career forwarding position within the community that I come to call home.
After four years of schmoozing, wining and dining, and whining and pleading, I have finally been offered and subsequently accepted the position of Volunteer Senior Regional Marine Sciences Field Technician, I on behalf of one of the two universities in the state.
I’m not sure which one yet, but who cares! I have nice big sticky name tag!
Got The Time
September 24, 2009
Back in the late 1970s Joe Jackson wrote a song called Got The Time, I think I first heard it as a cover done by Anthrax. I always thought the song was great musically, never paying much attention to the lyrics. I was reflecting on all the small projects I’ve got myself in to now and I’m trying to figure how I’m going to end up with enough time to do them all. I suppose it will be a balance of working and playing until I’m all caught up, and I expect that I should not take on any more projects until for while.
Kiteboarding 101
September 22, 2009
I will be the first to admit that if you tell me to do something or not to do something, I’m going to ask immediately why? This really goes if I am not able to figure it out on my own.
Do not launch your kite directly in to the power portion of the wind window unless your an expert. You will fly regardless if that was your intent or not.
As an example of how I end up learning things to do and or not to do, please click here.
All in all, the first two days with Reids kite was great. Reid has a 13m Best Kite and over the weekend we took it out with some friends to give it a go. The learning curve isn’t impossible. We both have a good understanding of the principals behind kiteboaridng – what we do not have is the experience that affords us the balance aspect.
We will keep plugging along until we get it, or get hurt. With any luck ACE will have my kite and board on one of their two flights today. (come on Riley – help a guy out here!)
Galleries and Albums
September 22, 2009
I’ve been ‘ blogging ‘ in some sort of fashion since 1997 when I registered and hosted my internet domain (digitalrage.net). It was not until this past year or so did I take the time to understand the relationship between galleries and albums.
keeping it simple (and I believe it is) the hierarchy is now really obvious to me.
- COLLECTION (all your images)
- ALBUM (galleries of a specific subject)
- GALLERY (specific groups of images related to that subject)
So with that all out of the way, it brings me to the point of my post. If you roll your mouse over the Photo Albums link in the menu bar at the top pf the page, you should notice that the different photo albums I have available appear, you can select an album (subject) and on a new page you will be presented with all the galleries (groups) related to that subject.
Poor Pictures
September 13, 2009
I took nearly a thousand pictures during my trip across the island. I have to say I’m not really happy with any of them. None of them stand out or seem exceptional in any way. Of course they all remind me of the different places I’d visited, but none seem well enough to frame, or enlarge or show off.
Here is the gallery with some more photos of the trek.
